Kaddish for Jake
Grateful for his life, I raise my voice In honor of him who is one with eternity.
Taking up this cup and raising it high,I remember him who walks among the stars.
Now, for his sake, I shall sing his song
By living each day aware of my needs and of the needs of others.
In his honor, I shall seek balances and harmonies,
Loving the mystery and awe of the universe,
Always searching for new worlds through doors left open,
Ever on the edge of discovery, ever striving; persistent and determined.
I shall also be impatient in the face of injustice,
Yet bearing injustice done to me with resolve and fortitude.
In homage to him, I shall face unpleasantness and frustration without collapse,
Hopeful and secure; keeping my word despite adversity.
In his memory’s sake, I shall value the good more than I will value my own desires,
Being honest when dishonesty is beneficial.
For his sake , I shall do what is right when other choices are more tempting and rewarding.
As he was reliable in his life, so I shall endeavor to be reliable in mine.
